Emmett Lane is SEVEN months!
10:10 AM
This month has been a big month for my now SEVEN month old! He's now closer to a year old than his actual day of birth. He's growing closer to becoming a toddler and I'm not going to lie to you, I'm torn. On the one hand, of course I want him to be my baby forever! But on the other hand, I can't wait to watch his personality form and for him to become a bit more independent. Emmett is the definition of Mama's boy. If I'm not in his sight, the world is ending. I know the older he gets, this will sort it's self out and he'll be more into his surroundings.. but for now, this can be exhausting.
When Daddy comes home at 7:30pm, it's one of the best parts of our day. During the day we play everything by ear.. Emmett eats breakfast (a fruit) with Karleigh and I and then he'll sometimes nap two or three times for short periods. When he's tired he gets SUPER FUSSY. Cries for absolutely no reason, other than his total and complete exhaustion. And there's no falling asleep before that point.. usually. He has to be nursed to sleep.. it's nice sometimes to just stop and cuddle.. but of course, with another child this can be difficult at times as well. Baby boy also eats a second meal (veggie) around dinner time. Then we play with Daddy until 8:30 when we start winding down for bed. I nurse Emmett to sleep and lay him down.. but he usually wakes a few times to nurse some more.
It's no secret that our family loves Auburn! WAR EAGLE! We watch every game, every week! This month was the Iron Bowl! Since the Iron Bowl was right after Thanksgiving, we were already in Alabama. So we had a little party with our Reeder Family to watch the game. Emmett loves watching football.. but not this game. He HATES loud noises.. and we were up cheering and yelling quite often. I had finally gotten my little buddy in the Ergo, asleep in the last 5 minutes of the game.. Well in the last SECOND Auburn came back and ran 109 yards to WIN THE GAME! WAR EAGLE! We were yelling and laughing and over all just completely stunned by this amazing play that won the game.. well poor Emmett was awoken with a startle... it took ten minutes to calm him down. I actually ended up having to take him to a quiet bedroom! My sweet little man..
Baby boy is sitting up now, like a champ! It's the sweetest thing. I love whenever he hits milestones. It's so much fun to play with him and watch him engage in toys and time with his sister.
Now, since birth this child has HATED bath time. I really don't know why.. I'm super gentle and I try to make it as soothing as possible. Karleigh absolutely LOVED bath time from day one. Well, we got rid of the baby bath tub once Emmett was sitting up really well and now he likes bath time! YAY! This is a great step. Him and Karleigh have actually started bathing together now.. It makes my life so much easier. hah
