Life with a newborn
10:33 AM
I had forgotten how cuddley and sweet newborn babies are!! Our hospital stay was so wonderful. The nurses were all very sweet and took such great care of us. Leighton was the sleepiest girl and hardly fussed at all. She also nurses like a champ! She lost 5% of her body weight and was already starting to gain a bit back.
We celebrated my 26th birthday the day after Leighton was born. There was cake and lots of visitors but they weren't for me. ;) it was a low key birthday but I got the greatest gift. <3 my sweet girl.
Aside from Justin having to work quite a bit while we were in the hospital it was a great experience. I never understood why moms don't like the hospital stay after baby. I'd stay a few more days of I could.
We got to take our precious Leighton Grace home on September 26. It was such a beautiful day outside.. As was the drive home. She's so calm and peaceful. We ran our errands as quickly as we could and we're off to our big kids. They were jumping with excitement to have us and baby home with them.
Justin's Mawmaw stayed with us the first few days, it was an absolute blessing to have her there helping with the big kids and cooking and cleaning. I'm not sure what we would have done without her. Especially when justin had to go to work Monday. I wanted to cry as she left on Tuesday. The kids LOVED having her with us as well.
Tuesday was the moment of truth. Our first day alone. The kids & I. It wasn't bad though. My sweet littles saw that mommy needed to take it easy and were so good. Really I have no complaints. They're such good kids. For the last week we've taken it easy and eased into more activities. I haven't ventured to leave the house alone with all three just yet but I'm not worried about when I do. Leighton loves the carrier and Emmett will use a stroller. We hit a jackpot with these three sweethearts. The only thing they give us real trouble with is bedtime. :| they don't like to nap (which is fine, they don't act up and they do rest) but bedtime, it's impossible to just lay them down to go to sleep. We've tried everything. We're working on a new routine and I think it might finally work. {consistency}
I feel so blessed to have this little family of mine. I have to brag on Justin. He's such a great dad. He works SO MUCH but he never once complains when he gets home, he just does what needs to be done. Bathing the kids, reading stories, cleaning up dinner.. I rarely have to even ask. He's everything. <3
